It’s not really so surprising that the rebels continue the fight. It’s their life. Other professional terrorists have said in interviews that after doing it for awhile, they can’t imagine any other occupation.

Indeed, when I taught down there for a year I once joked to a class that it might be more stressful to be a taxi cab driver in Bogota than to stay a guerrilla.
