I actually enjoyed Battlefield Earth a lot, though I’ve read nothing else of his, and that’s the only one I’ve ever had recommended to me. It was a shame they ruined the movie, as one (or more, to fit it all) done right might have been entertaining.
I could see the book not being for everyone though.

Mr. Cruise is also innumerent (i.e., mathematically challenged). There are 3×10^11 stars in our Milky Way Galaxy alone, and probably more than 10^11 visible galaxies in the universe. (See here) But then, a million is probably the largest number Mr. Cruise could conceive of.

I think the media will cause Thomas to fall into a downward spiral which will lead to the inevitable rehab and apologetic re-molding of his life.
