He'll still be on the ballot, and will get a fair number of votes just from name recognition and some Texan's "I ain't votin for no Democrat" sentiment. In my state of KY if the winner can't take office a new election is held. Will they go to the 2nd place finisher? Hold a new election? Sue everybody in sight? So, what happens if DeLay wins? Wouldn't it be a lot simpler to run as "Shelley Gibbs"? Ideally, as "Shelly Gibbs," but one can understand not wanting to undo one's parents' unfortunate spelling at that stage of life.
