Via the BBC: N Korea ‘is building more bombs’
North Korea is boosting its arsenal of nuclear weapons, the communist state’s Vice-Foreign Minister, Kim Gye-gwan, has told the US ABC News network.He said North Korea had enough atomic bombs to protect itself against attack by the US and was building more.
He refused to say whether North Korean missiles could reach the US.
Of course, considering the source, one has to take the information with a shaker of salt. Still, an unpleasant situation, to put it rather mildly.
That they have nukes is certainly true. Whether they are building substantially more is possible, if not probable. What having “enough” to ” protect” them from the US, however, is an open question. Indeed, not that I am advocating such, but the North Koreans have a serious strategic problem with this whole nuclear brinksmanship bit, insofar as if a nuclear war was fought with North Korean, most of the nuclear explosions would be in or near North Korea. This is not an optimal position to be in, shall we say.
