The Cavs better pay attention. This could be them in three years.

You would think that somone in the Lakers organization would have engaged in a measure damage control before it ever reached this point. The whole situation has been on the verge of implosion for weeks now, and the behavior of those in the Buss family is simply amazing. Jeanie and Jim sniping at each other in the press. 74 year old Dr. buss getting arrested on suspicion of DUI yesterday with a 23 year old young woman in Carlsbad. Wow. My mind is blown. (and really… I highly doubt Kobe is going anywhere)

With Kobe now backtracking on the trade demands, my inner conspiracy theorist wonders if this was just ESPN and Philly Inquirer reporter Stephen A. Smith ginning up a story (interviewing Kobe for the paper and riling him up, then running with his quotes to Shaq, setting up Kobe’s bombshell today on ESPN radio) to get people to pay attention to the lame Utah-San Antonio series tonight on ESPN.
