It isn't gangbusters, but it is good news: Jobless Claims Fall to 8-Month Low
The department said the average fell 11,500 to 393,500 last week, marking its first drop below the key 400,000 level in six weeks. Economists say claims above 400,000 suggest a deteriorating jobs market, while claims below that signal improvemen.
It has made the market happy, at least.

Bad news for the Dems...
When all the eggs in your basket have "unemployment" written on the side of them, you have a problem.
When the DOW crosses 10,000 Bush goes up 10 points in the polls.
And no matter how much the people disliked the wave of casualties we had for a month or so, they will see Iraq as the success it was. National security always favors republicans and even 3 years later 9/11 will impact the election somewhat.

While I am making predictions, I predict that my post will be responded to not by people on the left that can sanely point out their talking points going into the election... No, it will be responded to with the "Bush is the Devil" fever that they love so much.

Question: In july, it was reported that jobless numbers were only based on people actually looking for work and reporting unemployment claims. Does anyone know if there any reports this similar to this as well? I haven't heard anything.

Eric, to the extent that is true (which is minimal) they think Bush is a God because they like his policies.
The members of the left to which I refer do not think Bush is the Devil because of his policy. (that would be fine.)
Rather, they dislike the policy because Bush is the Devil.
The former example is an rational position to occupy. They latter is reserved for whack jobs.
Surely, you can see the difference.

I submit as an example, Clinton and socialized medicine. That was the work of the devil. (to continue the analogy) However on welfare reform Clinton got GOP support. The Dems fought tooth and nail over Bush expanding medicare by 1/3rd. --Irrational.
