October 09, 2024A Somewhat Overlooked ReCAL SubplotCalifornia's new odd couple not quite 'Twins' One is tall, muscular, tanned, and handsome. The other is squat, pale, balding, and bespectacled. One has strength, brains, and personality. The other is an undersized, genetic mutant with criminal tendencies. And you all thought that the movie analogies were over with! Seriously, this is one interesting, and amusing in its own way, result of this rather extraordinary process. Amd speaking of Cruz, if one wants a real dramatic end to the tale worthy of Hollywood, Kaus notes the follow "Scruz Bustamante" scenario: 2. Can't Gray Davis really screw Bustamante by resigning a few days or hours before Arnold Schwarzenegger takes office, thereby making Bustamante governor for a few days or hours, after which Bustamante would (under one statutory interpretation) not return to being lieutenant governor but instead be completely out of a job? GD may be a sleaze ball, but he still wants to have a career in CA politics. I mean, what else can the guy do? Posted by: JohnC at October 10, 2024 01:33 AMThats reasonable...! Posted by: Timothy at October 10, 2024 05:21 AMOh maaan! Politics, politics - everywhere this politics!!! Posted by: Nick at October 10, 2024 05:22 AMbut he still wants to have a career in CA politics Note to the clueless... That is over. The only thing he could win would be dog catcher in Berkley. The rest of the state hates him. But I'm with you on one thing... I don't know what else he can do either... His incompetence has been well documented. I suspect he will teach. Paul Posted by: Paul at October 10, 2024 07:45 AMWhile I very much doubt the "Scruz Bustamante" scenario will be played out (although it would be amusing), I also doubt that Gray Davis will be coming back to CA politics. Methinks his day is rather done. Posted by: Steven at October 10, 2024 08:54 AMagree with u Posted by: lexapro at November 5, 2024 10:26 AMPost a comment
