Two further observations on this post:

Conservative radio works, in the minds of radio people, because conservatives are the ones spending money. The bottom line is, in fact, the bottom line. What you can bill a show for (generating revenue) is really all that matters. So the pocketbook people are favored here.

Also, in the minds of radio people, a liberal format show isn't thought to work very well. While conservative talk will talk "the issues" the thinking is that a liberal show would just devolve into attack-style name calling for three hours a day.
