I got hit last night with just over 600 stinkin' comment spams for some German-hosted site selling a viagra alternative.

I must admit, that hacks me off.

Have you installed the newly upgraded MT-Blacklist? If not, I'd recommend it.

I have it, but perhaps not the latest version.

    Thanks.

Wow. 600 in one night...the most I have gotten in one day was 10.

Also, you have the IP address where the spam came from? Time to take preemptive action!

No, they've gotten smarter. They're utilizing slightly different IP addresses. TOo bad you can't blacklist gateway addresses.

Wait. How much were they selling it for? I may be interested.

I recently got about 50 spams over two days, so as a first step I did this. Note that if you copy and paste his text, you need to change the quotation marks to be "normal" rather than the cutesy, non-ASCII kind. That also requires you to make an easy edit to mt-comments.cgi. It seems to have stopped the spam for now.

If there's more spam, I'll rename mt-comments.cgi, use the blacklist, or install the capcha plugin (requires the user to enter a random code which is drawn as a picture in the comments box.)

I looked at a few of the IPs, and most were foreign, but one was UU and another was a U.S. school. However, one of the advertised websites appeared to be hosted at a non-rogue company, so hopefully they got pulled.

The weirdest thing of all were the other spams. They had this in common:
    1. All the names of the posters were common Anglo-Saxon names.
    2. They pointed to websites at netfirms.com, which I believe is owned or affiliated with a major spammer or rogue operative (although, that was from a Usenet message and I don't know if it's accurate or not).
    3. Those websites had banner ads for netfirms, and their names were followed by 'internet casino'
    4. The websites were filled-out personal pages: a home page, a few pictures, ICQ numbers, etc. However, as an example one featured a tale of their trip to Hawaii. Except, the tale was just lifted from some tourist board source or similar. One of them listed a 205 phone number, which I didn't call. Despite trying to pass themselves off as personal sites, they were seen to be fake after reading them a bit.

Some other blogger commented on this back in Feb., but I didn't save the URL.

I've written something like seven songs straight online-casinos now where the music is complete and finished as dedicated servers like I want it, and I don't have the words. And, casino I've written a few where the words are to that dedicated server same point, but although I can hear music to set hosting them to, it's nothing solid, or it isn't fully online-casino Right. That's weird for me

I was wondering if anyone has used any of these online life insurance portals like
http://www.advantage-quotes.com. I need life insurance, but have the bad image
of an "insurance salesman" in my mind all the time. Where did they get this
reputation? Is there a forum that I can go to that can point me to a legitamate life
insurance company? You may email me. Please do not email me spam!!!
