No surprise here. The SciFi Channel took a pretty good horror/adventure/noir series, tried to turn it into standard TV fare (very beautiful people, thuddingly predictable plots, cardboard personalities, stories that neatly wrapped up in an hour, etc.), and birthed an ugly, mutant offspring that no one could love.

I actually enjoyed the TV show, and it lead me to books, which are (not surprisingly) far, far better.
