Hiro’s time-tripping does indeed suggest that. These heroes (like X-Men?) pop up in time when they are needed. There’s a great Spider-Man “What If” about this, which suggests that Parker has been bitten all his lifetimes becausse he’s the only one who can handle the mantle of the Spider, if you will.
