    2. This is exactly why I don’t follow sports anymore - even college sports. It is dominated by money and too many thugs who are barely acceptable in society but “lauded” on the playing field. Seems a farce and a mockery of what “sports” are supposed to be. I realize that sports have never been “idyllic” but there was a time we used to be able to call a thug and thug and say “I know you can run fast but you’re a thug and not welcome here”.

    3. On the one hand, I understand where you are coming from.

      On the other, I don’t think that there was ever a time when being a thug meant you didn’t play. Heck, back in the early 20th century there were some college teams that paid thugs (non-students) to play.
