Why are you still writing checks? Online banking and debit cards are the only way to go.

And another thing…why is is that whenever you send a check to pay your power bill, water bill etc, they always demand that you write your account number on the check? This has always driven me batty, and is one of the main reasons I now pay as many of my bills as possible online.

The account number on check this is so the drone responsible for entering payments received can identify that the check is in fact your payment should it and the remittance advice become separated. Good idea, in a place where they process gadzillions of payments and have no clue who you are without that number.
