    1. My grandmother’s name is Hazel, which she has never had any problem using. Deb and I both kind of like it, and if I had a 3rd daughter (we already have a probable name for a 2nd one), it might end up a middle name. But not a first if only because it doesn’t go with the surname.

Phinneus, well… I can think of worse names, but to me, after the initial “you named your kid WHAT” wears off, Phinneas Walter is not so bad in an old-fashioned sort of way. It’s far more normal and distinguished than all or most of the other celebrity baby names listed.

    2. Oh, I am not really dissin’ Hazel–but it does make me think about maids :)

And compared to some of the names in the list, Hazel and Phinneas are pretty tame.

    3. I grew up thinking that Hazel was a witch…. and they bottled her…

    4. Claudia Schiffer also has a son named Caspar – which always made me think of “the friendly ghost”.

    5. Hazel is nice if old fashioned. Phinneaus is a disaster unless they chuck it and just call him Finn. Of course, someone so pretentious as to name their kid Phinneus won’t do that so I hope the kid does it
