    3. In this case, it was a faculty-only event–and granted, we were only outside for a little while.

      Thankfully our graduation ceremonies are in an air-conditioned basketball arena.

      Although I will say that doctoral robes are quite a bit heavier than the things they give graduates…

    4. Yes. The material is thicker because yours is supposed to last many years. The grads may never wear theirs again.

      I always called it the “peacock parade.” It’s always interesting to watch the folks who have the “off color” robes, like a bright red robe or a bright blue robe instead of the traditional black. I always thought the Oxford regalia was the classiest - a tux and an open front over-the-shoulder robe.
