Via Reuters: Peru earthquake kills 437
The U.S. Geological Survey upgraded the quake’s magnitude to 8.0 from an earlier 7.9 measurement, and powerful aftershocks rattled the country on Thursday morning.
That is one big earthquake.
The death toll is up 100 from this morning’s estimate, and it looks likely to continue to rise:
At least 437 people were killed in the 8.0-magnitude quake on Wednesday night, Peru’s civil defense agency INDECI said. Another 1,300 people were injured, and many expected the death toll to rise further.Sphere: Related Content
