Via the BBC: Venezuela restores Colombia ties

Venezuela says it will immediately normalise diplomatic relations with Colombia, a week after ties were cut.

[…]

Ecuador, which accused Colombia of violating its sovereignty, has said it will take some time to restore ties.

I am guessing that this indicates that Ecuador’s Correa still hasn’t exactly forgiven the Colombians, as it is unclear why Ecuador would need more time than Venezuela to reestablish relations. Indeed, I want to say that Ecuador only recalled its ambassador, while Venezuela shut down their entire embassy, but I can’t find the story with the reference.

Regardless, it is amazing how quickly Chávez can go from a war footing coupled with high levels of belligerent rhetoric to everything being ok.

CNN notes the following:

“The Venezuelan government will send to Bogota, immediately, diplomatic personnel charged with representing the republic before the government of Colombia,” the Venezuelan government said in a statement posted online Sunday. “In the same manner, the Venezuelan government has communicated to the Colombia authorities their disposition to receive in Caracas, in a short time, the diplomatic personnel of the sister republic.”

Its a sad serious situation there with lots of uncertainty.People are very concerned with the outcome of thier beautiful country.I hope he will be short term and someone else can take control with all the billions of dollars he is using for personal growth and start spending on the people of Venezesuela.

    2. […] I remember President Carter also rewarded our enemies, in order to appear ‘reasonable’, and destabilized our freinds, especially when they tanglled with our/their enemies, as here, even to the extent of punishing them for wanting to trade freely with us. Remember how that worked out? Well, both Democrat Presidential candidates, and Democrats in Congress, are trying to do that again. […]
