Colombian Conflict

Stats like this are remarkable:

a report by a local human rights group, Codhes, said 410,000 people were displaced by the conflict in 2025 - the worst year on record.

And they continue to raise the question in my mind: exactly who are the guerrillas fighting for? I know that much of the displacement is caused by the military and especially paramilitary groups, but the conflict itself wouldn't be taking place if the FARC and ELN weren't engaged in "revolutionary" conflict in the name of "the people."

True. Of course, you have to factor in the number of people employed by the guerilla groups to make it fair.

I've given up on trying to figure out which group of rebels has which goals in any South American country. The perpetual state of lawlessness and casual violence on that continent is a constant irritant to my peace-loving, pro-freedom mind.
