    Wowie--this is one of the most pro-American pieces I have read in some time, and it is written by an Australian in an Australian paper: They like Bush, and they are not stupid.

    The concluding paragraph:

    The price of freedom is high. You might think you would not sacrifice your life for it, but maybe you don't have to. After all, 20-year-old Americans are doing it for you, every day.

    The article supports the simplistic approach to foreign policy that Bush will use in his campaign. That is - as long as Bush can keep the discussion of freedom to a binary condition - support Bush means pro-freedom & security vs. support a democrat means you don't, then Bush will win even more handily than expected. But if one of the dem's can make a case that the 'implementation' of that part of foreign policy is wrong, then they've got a fair chance.
