One thing's for certain: Bill Clinton has more energy and charisma in his left hand than Kerry has in his whole body. And he has a far great facility with words and phrases in a speech.

I think that he is wrong on most of what he says, but I will admit he says it a whoooole lot better than Kerry does.

That whole cop thing really annoys me, because it isn't the Federal government's job to fund police officers in New York City or any other locality. I really wish these guys would read the Constitution.

the cop thing might be annoying, but on some level, you have to admire a man who can take the cop issue and gun control, mix them together, and accuse the Republicans of being soft on crime.

Bill Clinton is a great communicator. I believe he was the highlight of the evening. He sure knows how to work a room. He over shadowed: Gore, Carter and even Hillary, who I thought were rather dull.

    PW:

I agree that his rhetorical powers are impressive, and I agree with you that politically that was a great line. I think that much of it is wrong, policy-wise, but I concede the political points he scored.

While irking that it's not the job of the federal government to fund local police departments, that isn't the real problem. The real problem is that due to the unbalanced way in which federal funds are distributed the net effect of such a program is to take cops off the streets in New York (where they're urgently needed) and put them on the streets in Billings, Montana (since New York receives less than a dollar back for every dollar taxed in New York while Montana receives more than a dollar back for every dollar taxed).
