The Old Man Continues to Amaze (Favre’s OT TD Pass)
By Steven L. Taylor
I tuned into last night’s MNF game to see Cutler lead the Broncos down the field to tie the game with a FG as time expired. And then saw Bret Favre throw an 82 yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage in OT. Amazing stuff.
Via the AP; Favre’s 82-yard TD stuns Broncos in OT:
Green Bay (6-1) won the coin toss and on the first play, Jennings was matched up in man-to-man coverage on the left side. Favre, who threw a 79-yard touchdown pass to James Jones in the first half, hit Jennings in stride at the Denver 40. Cornerback Dre’ Bly had no shot at catching the speedy wide receiver who trotted into the end zone as Favre rushed to celebrate Green Bay’s first 6-1 start in five years.
According to the broadcast, it is the second longest such OT TD pass to win in NFL history (tied with someone else). Tirico said that the record was 99 yards by Jaworski.
Denver RB Collapses and Dies

Via ESPN: Tragedy hits Broncos: tailback Nash collapses, dies
Denver Broncos reserve tailback Damien Nash collapsed and died Saturday night after an appearance in a charity basketball game in St. Louis.
Nash, a two-year NFL veteran, was 24.
[…]
Details of the incident were not yet available, and an official with the St. Louis police said an investigation was in its “very earliest” stages.
The proceeds of the event were to benefit the Darris Nash Find A Heart Foundation, which raises money for heart transplant research. The foundation was created last month after Darris Nash, 25, the older brother of Damien Nash, received a heart transplant.
How awful.

Tragic New Year’s Eve Shooting of Denver Bronco
By Steven L. Taylor
Denver Broncos football player shot, killed
Williams, 24, was riding in a limousine in downtown Denver after 2 a.m. (4 a.m. EST/0900 GMT) when shots fired from another vehicle hit him and a man and woman also riding in his car, ABC television reported.
“It is a terrible tragedy,” National Football League spokesman Greg Aiello told Reuters. “We don’t know all the details yet, but we are reaching out to the Broncos to offer our support.”
Denver Broncos spokesman Jim Saccomano told the station that police had telephoned the Broncos and told them that Williams had died. It was not known how badly the other two people were injured.
A terrible event. It is the kind of thing that makes you wonder what in the world some people are thinking and why they act as they do? What’s the motivation for firing a gun at another car?
