Via the AP: Stingray kills ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin

Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.

Wow.  That’s incredibly young.  Sadly, the nature of his demise is not a surprise, given his propensity to take risks near dangerous animals.

Regardless, very sad.
