Via PC World: Final Version of Mozilla Firefox 2 Available Today.

I have been so enamored with Firefox, I am not sure when I last updated IE.

Here’s PC World’s review of the two.

It sounds like the Firefox release is just tweaks and such, while IE 7 is Microsoft catching up to where Firefix has been for a couple of years now.

Update. Hmm. The upgrade to Firefox 2.0 made all my bookmarks go away. Me no like.

And, shockingly, the attempt to acquire IE 7.0 ran afoul of technical issues (probably the number of people trying to d/l the software).

Update 2: Must’ve been a bum install, as the bookmark function was totally broken. A quick reinstall and all is well again in Taylorlandia.

    1. Great news. Firefox 2 is already my favorite web tool. I like the clean interface of this software most.

Thank you for sharing this story with me !

    2. Where did you get your copy? I am only seeing the one on their website that is still in beta?

    3. I had been using Firefx for quite a while, but I downloaded IE 7, and I actually really liked it. I like the interface better, although for some reason my bookmarks didn’t transfer.

    4. Jeff,

It is the RC3 release (so technically still beta).

And I am still having trouble getting IE 7 installed.

    5. Nevermind the new major release; Firefox will sometimes create a fresh profile when you install an upgrade. However, the bookmarks remain under the old profile and can be retrieved in the form of bookmarks.html easily enough.

    6. Good Deal!!

I am going to wait until the final release before I make the upgrade. I will never use IE again, no matter what type of improvements they make they are always two steps behind Firefox.

    7. So I just downloaded 2.0 and had two extentions that failed, but with it being the first day I can understand that.

I will say that I love Firefox more with version 2.0 then I did before - works like a dream!!
