When I engage in data entry and analysis I ended up talking to myself more and more as the day goes on.

Perhaps I should seek help for this condition?

Perhaps I’d like a beer. Yes, that seems more likely. (to paraphrase, if I may)

    1. Perhaps you would like a beer??

    2. The above is a semi-obscure reference–there is no perhaps about it.

There is a Guinness Extra Stout in the other room calling my name.

    3. I didn’t enter any data today, but I chaired a panel this morning and rewarded myself handsomely with beer this afternoon.

    4. Sounds fair to me.

    5. I assume when the beer drinking begins the data entry ends? Or does that explain all the typos I get to correct? ;)

    6. Is that a Hitchhiker’s Guide reference? It sounds familiar.

    7. Sadly, typos ensure sans any alcohol whatsoever.

And yes, it is an HHG ref–the old man in the shack:

I think I saw another ship in the sky today. A big white one. I’ve never seen a big white one. Only six small black ones. Perhaps six small black ones can look like one big white one. Perhaps I would like a glass of whisky. Yes, that seems more likely.
