Via the AP: Travolta echoes Cruise on psychiatry
John Travolta says his thinking is in line with fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise, who has publicly defended the religion’s stance against psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry.
First off: no surprise here as this is the stance of the church to which they both belong. As such, how is this news? It is like reporting that two Baptists agree on the doctrine of the Trinity.
Second off: who cares? If I may say, if one is looking to Tom Cruise and John Travolta for medical advise then one in fact needs a psychiatrist.

Is it accurate to refer to Scientology as a “church”? My understanding is that it is more of a cult.

Well, I’ve not liked John Travolta for quite some time now anyway. (I actually refuse to watch any movie he is in just on principle.) So the fact that he is against it actually makes psychiatry sound much more appealing.
