Via the AP: Richardson Ends Bid

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson ended his campaign for the presidency Wednesday after twin fourth-place finishes that showed his impressive credentials could not compete with his rivals’ star power.

Hardly a surprise. And I still say that he’s extremely veepable.

The NYT has a lengthier write-up: Richardson Drops Out of Democratic Race

    1. Very veepable and the most likeable out of the Demos. Sad he has so much experience but no traction. He would be good for Obama to make up for his lack of experience.

    2. As much as I would love to see him as the running mate, if the presidential candidate is Obama, will a black man add a Hispanic to the ticket? I want to believe yes, but I just don’t know. Too much non-white novelty for one ticket in America, I fear.

And if the presidential candidate is Clinton, I do not think she can take a member of her husband’s cabinet to be her running mate. (And can a woman run with a Hispanic?)

For Edwards, he’d be great. But Edwards appears to have only a marginally better chance of being the presidential nominee than Richardson himself.
