Via the AP: Play of the Day: Obama set on 2 terms

“I hope people realize that because of the damage that has been done, it’s going to take more than one term to even start to turn it around,” said Trudy Manderfeld, a 60-year-old former pharmaceutical company worker from Shipshewana, Ind.

“Yeah, exactly,” Obama said. “Well, I’m looking for two,” Obama said with a chuckle.

“Are ya?” Manderfeld asked.

“But I’m going to start on that first one,” Obama replied.

I think that this is proof that the primary season is too long: it is considered news that a guy running for president is thinking in terms of two terms instead of one.

Heck, even McCain, at his age, probably figures that if he wins that he will stick it out for eight years.

    1. Whats your point? I think last president who didn’t want 8 years was LBJ. Is this really news?

    2. Most want enough time to be able to carry out their plans. 4 years can get some things done but not everything. And by the time a new president takes over the planning of the last president becomes null and void unless the new guy is working toward the same goals.

There was actually some talk a while back about changing the term to 1 six-year term instead of 2 four-year terms.

    3. Doug,

That’s my point: this is not news. I am making fun of the story.
