As expected (via the Austin American-Statesman): Young heading to NFL

Vince Young announced Sunday that he is skipping his senior season as quarterback for the national champion Texas Longhorns and will enter the NFL draft.

“I’ve decided to enter the draft this year and go to the NFL,” Young said in a news conference on the University of Texas campus. “I know that everybody is behind me, and I thank God for that. I won’t let ya’ll down.”

The reward is to high (I can’t imagine he would go any lower than third overall) and the risk of a career-ending injury is too high not to go.

As much as I would love to see him stay at Texas and repeat (something that I think a Young-led Longhorns squad would be favored to do), this is obviously the best move for him.

    1. Yep all around. Goose and others think Young would be a better player a year from now if he stayed in school. Maybe so. But I’d rather do my learning on an NFL superstar’s paycheck.

Speculation that he would go to the Titans and be under Steve McNair’s wing for a year also sounds promising.
