Via the AP: Fujimori Looks to Influence Peru Election
According to the story he still seems to think he has a shot at being President again.
In regards to his political aspirations:
recent evidence suggests Peruvians don’t necessarily take his presidential election suggestions. His favored candidate, former Congresswoman Martha Chavez, finished fourth with just 7.5 percent of the vote in the first round of voting in April. However, Fujimori’s daughter Keiko was elected to congress with the highest vote nationwide.
Ballots are still being counted from some of April’s congressional elections, but Fujimori’s bloc could end up with 13 to 15 legislators in the 120-member single-house Congress, which could be enough to arrange alliances in a fragmented body in which no party has a majority.
While the Peruvian party system (such as it is) is fragmented, I wouldn’t bank on 11-13% of the legislature to be much to build from.
