Apropos (after a fashion, anyway) of the previous post are some pictures from Iquitos, Peru (and yes, I have been slow in rolling these out).
At any rate, here we are just off the main square in Iquitos one evening, and the folks leading our trip took us to, of all places the “The Yellow Rose of Texas” restaurant and bar. (And btw, I wore that t-shirt not knowing where we were going)
All the waitresses were in UT t-shirts or cheerleader outfits. The owner was a Texas alumnus who played baseball for UT back in the late 1960s. (He was a gringo).
And the name of the bar next door was quite amusing:
Texas: there’s no escape.
(A story on the place from UT’s The Daily Texan can be found here.)

Hmmm. I can’t put my finger on it, but the missus looks different . . .new hair cut?
