Adam Isacson has a good post on Uribe’s “Emmanuel” hypothesis, concerning the identity of a child whom the FARC was supposedly going to hand over in a hostage exchange, but may have been in the custody of Colombia child protective services for perhaps two years.
One of the commenters likened the story to a “telenovela”–which is an apt description. This is one of those “you can’t make this stuff up” stories if the DNA tests prove that the child is who the Uribe administration claims he is.
My previous posts on the situation:

And its official - you can’t make this story up. What the FARC was hoping to prove . . . I have no clue. This story is just weird.
