MTP has a roundtable made up of Senators (Hutchison, Allen, Schumer) on the Miers nomination, and Kay Bailey Hutchison and she made what has become a very tired argument, which is the personal-connection/”trust me” argument. She noted that both she and the President know Miers well and believe that Miers would make a great Justice.

All well and good, but a wholly inadequate “argument” as to why Ms. Miers should be confirmed to a lifelong appointment on the highest court in the land.
