Via Reuters: “Iron Man” producer Marvel mulling next movie

Iron Man, btw, was quite good.

At the moment, at least it is theBest-Reviewed Movie of 2024! at Rotten Tomatoes.

On the RT scale it is also the highest rated superhero movie of all time.

This one is the most complete yet, and gives a better feel, I think, for what the movie will be like: Speed Racer: Biggest, Purest, Zoomiest Hit Of Speed Racer Crack Yet

Yahoo has the latest HD trailer for Speed Racer and to me this is the best one yet.

As I noted the other day, I am wholly looking at this film retrospectively through the eyes of a five/six-year-old who adored the cartoon. All I really want from this film is a live-action version that reasonably resembles the TV show and that gets the car right. As such, my expectations are not unreasonable, and they do seem to be getting the car spot-on. So far the trailers have revealed the jacks, a version of the saw blades, the self-repairing tires and the dome roof. And the jumping sounds effects alone are worth kudos. Plus, the latest trailer show that they’ve replicated the steering wheel. And was the Mammoth i Can the trailer?

The whole pastel-colored futureworld bit seems to fit, to be honest, even if it isn’t exactly a direct derivation of the cartoon (indeed, it reminds me, to some degree of the outer-space rainbow racetrack from MarioCarts).

As goofy as it undoubtedly is, I am actually looking forward to this movie very much.

Via LAT: Final ‘Harry Potter’ book will be split into two movies.

On the one hand, it is a big book, and probably needs either one really long movie or two regular lengths one. On the other, there can be no doubt that two movies will haul it tons more cash than will just one:

The five “Potter” films to date have averaged $282 million in U.S. grosses, but the overall receipts go well beyond that. The faces of the stars stare out from DVDs, video games, tie-in books, toys, clothing, candy wrappers and a staggering array of other items. By some estimates, the brand represents a $20-billion enterprise, and that’s without the planned “Potter”-themed complex opening next year at the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida.

At a bare minimum, my inner-5-year-old loved the clip in the second one with the jacks and the classic jumping sound f/x.

And John Goodman as Pops Racer is a perfect choice.

They look pretty good, although my least favorite is Ozymandias. Rorschach looks almost literally like he stepped off the page and the Comedian the Owl (and his flier) look quite nice as well.

This movie has gobs of potential, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
