Indy IV Filming in ‘07
By Steven L. Taylor

Lucas: Filming `Indiana Jones 4′ in 2024.

I have lost all faith in Lucas, but still trust Ford and Spielberg.

Of course, I have to wonder what a 62 year-old Indiana Jones is going to be like…

BSG Direct-to-Video Movie Coming?
By Steven L. Taylor

Geekmonthly reports: Galactica Direct-To-Video Movie Set To Launch.

Of some concern is the noting in the piece of “ratings erosion” for the show, although the tone is positive in terms of the likelihood of a fourth season.

BBC Moves to File-Sharing
By Steven L. Taylor

Intriguing: BBC moves to file-sharing sites

The new deal means that users of the software will be able to download high-quality versions of BBC programmes, including Red Dwarf, Doctor Who and the League of Gentleman. Classic series such as Fawlty Towers will also be available through a BBC “channel”.

The titles will be protected by digital rights management software to prevent the programmes being traded illegally on the internet.

Of course:

No pricing structure for the BBC content on Zudeo has been revealed.

We shall see. Still, this is yet another example of TV and the internet merging.

Who Rumors about Tennant
By Steven L. Taylor

Via Metro.co.uk: ‘Doctor Who to quit’ denied by BBC

Doctor Who bosses today denied claims that David Tennant is to quit the show — but said a fourth series featuring the Scot as the Timelord has not yet been ordered.

Reports claimed that the 35-year-old would leave in the middle of the fourth series of the sci-fi drama, due to begin filming next year - sparking a hunt for the 11th Timelord after less than two years in the role.

But a BBC spokeswoman said today that no fourth series had even been commissioned yet and negotiations with the star would not begin until it had been given the green light.

“David is absolutely committed to the show and is currently filming the third series,” said a BBC spokeswoman today.

“There is no fourth series currently commissioned yet so we could not confirm his involvement in that yet.

While I preferred Eccelston, Tennant is growing on me as the Doctor. If anything, I prefer that there be at least three years of a given Doctor before a new regeneration. And since we are approaching his twelfth, Russell T. Davies had better have good way to explain what to do next.

And, one would think that a fourth season of the new Who is quite likely. Indeed, I expect that the show will be with us for quite some time (one can hope, anyway).

Blake’s 7 to Return?
By Steven L. Taylor

So reports the Independent: Blake’s 8: The cult is back

Now, following the success of the new Doctor Who, the series is to be given not one but two new leases of life in 2024.

First, in the spring, will be a series of newly penned hour-long audio episodes, with a new cast playing the original characters. Among them are This Life’s Daniela Nardini, Craig Kelly from Queer as Folk, James Bond actor Colin Salmon and former Robin of Sherwood star Michael Praed.

The audio adventures, which will initially be podcast in five-minute segments over the internet, have already been recorded in a London studio. It is hoped that they will be followed by a mini-series, Blake’s 7: Legacy, to be set 30 years after the bloodbath on the planet of Gauda Prime, which ended the original 52-episode run. The series, which has been scripted but is yet to be cast, will feature a new set of heroes, but with “strong links” to the original series, and a possible return for anti-hero Avon - the only main cast member not slain in the final hail of gunfire.

Intriguing–especially if Avon returns.

The Doctor, the Daleks, NYC and the 1930s
By Steven L. Taylor

So reports Playfuls.com: New York Site Of Next ‘Doctor Who’ Battle:

The next time the “Doctor” from the BBC drama “Doctor Who” does battle with his archenemies the Daleks, he will do so in New York.

Set in New York during the 1930s, the upcoming episode of the series will not only have the famed Doctor facing his nemesis’ most devious plan but also will mark the beginning of a series of celebrity guest appearances, the BBC said.

I am lukewarm to the celebrity guest appearances, but the Daleks in 1930s NYC sounds good.

The BBC (natch) has more here.
