Toast Trumps the Crystal Ball
By Dr. Steven Taylor @ 12:32 pm

Paul of Wizbang points to Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball predcitive success, as he called the race to be 269-269 and got all the states right except Florida and Wisconsin.

However, the Toast-o-Meter came closer: calling all the states right except calling Hawaii for Bush. (And I don’t have a research institute, just a messy office!)

Of course, OTB got it on the money.

This all assumes that NM and Iowa go Bush, which I am certain that they will.

Still: remember–next time, take the Toaster ;)

Update: Dave Wissing’s numbers show that I bested Zogby, too! :)

Update 2: Robert Tagorda was right on the money also.

    1. If I may toot my own horn a bit, I got every state except Wisconsin, and every Senate race except Colorado right, and got the Popular vote percentages exactly right: http://www.cdharris.net/archives/2004_11.html#004135

    2. If I may be so bold: My predictions were off by one state in the Presidential race (Wisconsin) and one in the Senate (Colorado) but got the populat vote percentages exactly right.

    3. A Partial Roundup
Election reaction from some of my Blogosphere friends, with a strong emphasis on law professors I know in the real world (a partial list in no particular order):Gordon Smith must be getting very tired, because he’s been blogging nonstop all

    4. Hmm. Some kind of snafu above didn’t show me either of my comments. Sorry; I should know better. Feel free to delete the first comment and this one.

    5. I had every state right….except Ohio. Oops.

    6. If I may be bolder, I predicted EVERY VOTE correctly — not just the percentages, not just the electoral college, etc. I mean I knew exactly which people voted and who they voted for. I’m the Bobby Fischer of elections.

Plus, Larry Sabato is ugly. He should never, ever be on TV. And with all his “fame” can’t he buy a decent suit and tie. Duh. And how ’bout a little less analysis Larry, and a little more treadmill, eh?

    7. I second the comment that Larry Sabato is ugly.

    8. that rat ba$tard Sabato

He was on FoxNews bragging about his 99.8% track record. I did not have time to read it all but it sounded impressive so I linked him. crummy chump, he was way off.

Lesson learned- read everything twice before linking. grrrr

    9. Loose Ends and Links of Note
Unlike the MSM who bury their corrections, I’ll put mine right here at the top. The morning after the election, I linked to Larry Sabato who was on Fox News bragging that his crystal ball was 99.8% accurate at predicting…
