On the heels of news that a sixth nominee has been approved, I received a mass e-mail from Human Events, which proclaims

McCain’s Subversive Seven sold us out!

And they sold us out for a dastardly deal that the liberals in the Senate never had any intention of upholding!

This strikes me as a bit, well, hyperbolic (or, at least, hyperactive).

Gee whiz, folks, this kind of ranting really isn’t very useful. Further, cryin’ “foul” over the compromise strikes me as silly, as, to date, the compromise hasn’t been abridged. Yes, there is a filibuster on the Bolton nomination at the moment, but he wasn’t part of the deal, so it seems a bit disingenuous to act as if he was, which what the e-mail does (and then calls for the blast faxing of the Senate).

I do think that the Democrats are unreasonably delaying Bolton, and think that if they think he should be defeated, then they should engage in direct debate rather than fishing for documents. However, the situation does not require apoplexy.
