Or, really, general press insanity. As much as I like getting as much news about an event as possible, the fact that NPR has reporters in the New Orleans Hilton (right on the river) is a bit, well, insane.
About an hour ago I heard John Burnett reporting from the 21st floor that the building was swaying so much in the wind that he and his colleagues could see the curtains moving and that the water in the bathtub was sloshing about.
Further, there were reports that windows had broken at the hotel, yet he was standing at his windows giving a report.
Most odd (and made doubly odd given that during the year I was a Visiting Instructor at the University of Texas my office was right next door to John’s wife’s–although I have never met John himself).
