Via the NYT: Senate Committee Meets to Vote on Roberts Nomination.
Certainly all the Republicans will vote for him and Leahy has declared his intention to vote for Roberts as well.. Kennedy has stated his opposition. The question becomes the rest:
Six of the eight Democratic members remained mum about their votes on Wednesday – Senators Durbin, Charles E. Schumer of New York, Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin and Ms. Feinstein
As such, there are at least 11 votes and I expect that several of the Democrats will vote for him, at least partially to appear reasonable on this nomination in case they need to look a little less so for the next nominee.
It will not surprise me is Feinstein and Schumer end up voting yes. Indeed, based on Schumer’s own public pronouncements concerning the type of “mainstream conservative” that the President should nominate, I would expect that he will go ahead and vote for Roberts. Also, Feinstein was willing to break ranks at least once during the Appeals Court Wars, so I could see her voting for Roberts as well. I have no feel for the rest. However, Leahy’s public support (and going first in doing so) will ease the way for others on the committee to vote “yes” as well.
Here’s the list of members, for any who might be interested.

Sadly, only three committee members chose not to follow Schumer’s mythological “answer every quetion to my satisfaction strategy,” and declined the opportunity to join Chairman Dean’s and Senator Reid’s obstructionism.
