Via the AP: Poll: Obama tops McCain as football-watching buddy

Obama was the pick over McCain by a narrow 50 percent to 47 percent, according to an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll released Friday

Shockingly, the results are not that different than the national polls.

Still, why these silly questions every four years? Who would you rather have a beer with? Who would you invite to your BBQ? It is the general election campaign manifestation of pancake flipping in New Hampshire (but at least the silly polls are only hypotheticals).

    2. OBAMA = BETRAYAL
Obama supporters are foolish to think that he will never betray them.
Obama was a close friend of Pastor Wright for TWENTY YEARS.
Obama threw Wright under the bus for personal ambition.
McCain would not betray his country even after 5 years of torture.
You can put lipstick on a traitor, but he’s still a traitor.

    3. MCCAIN = AMAZING MAGIC!
McCain supporters are full of rainbows and unicorns!
      McCain knew Jesus personally!
McCain owns a bus (true! It’s called the “straight-talk express!)
Obama does not own a bus!
You can put lipstick on a mannequin, but it would look silly!

Howard, this demonstrates how ridiculously off-topic your post is. The reason you feel compelled to sling misguided attacks at the Obama campaign is because McCain’s policies would be the wrong direction for the U.S. He wants to deregulate and privatize health care (just as the market is imploding because of lax regulation — thank god we didn’t privatize social security). His tax plan will give the top 1% of earners 75% of the benefits (and will lead the country to 5.1 trillion debt — check out the Urban-Brookings tax policy center’s analysis: http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/url.cfm?ID=411693 He called himself the ” greatest deregulator,” (http://blogs.wsj.com/dnotebook/2007/05/29/mccains-high-tech-cabinet/ ) but turns around yesterday and promises regulation — unbelievable, literally. And finally, if you’d like to examine character, this is a man who cheated on his first wife (who was disfigured in an accident), who has abandoned his integrity to embrace the Bush administration, who decried Karl Rove’s tactics in the 2024 election but who uses them now, who chose his VP as a gimmick, thinking only of winning the election, not leading the country. A man who lies without shame and without honor.

That’s no one I want near the presidency.

I can only hope your insensate ranting is due to ignorance. And I pity you.

    4. I don’t want to have a beer with my president. I just want a president and government that is working for the people of this country and not just the wealthy upper class and corporations. Now, the tax payers (middle class) are going to bail out more companies as they fail, millions of dollars have been siphoned off and many have run with the money and we are left with paying the price. Our 401 K’s are losing, our investments are gone. McCain surrounds himself with incompetents and corrpupt people, Phil Gramm who is at the root of our finacial woes, Carly Fiorina who brought down HP, Sarah Palin who lies through her teeth… It is a clear choice. Honesty and integrity, Barrack Obama.
