This is interesting, especially given that Afghanistan has become the forgotten war: Taliban fighters killed in Afghanistan
Backed by U.S. warplanes and Special Operations troops, Afghan forces attacked Taliban fighters Monday in southeastern Afghanistan, U.S. and Afghan officials said.Afghan officials said more than 40 Taliban fighters were killed in the attack, while the Pentagon put the death toll at 14. No U.S. or Afghan casualties were reported.
The Taliban should have never been allowed to even get to this point. This is a bit like being proud of all the horses you caught after leaving the barn door open. Glad it happened, but the problem is something a bit different.

Are you arguing that the war was prosecuted incorrectly in the first place, or that we are responsible for the Taliban pre-war?

Afghanistan stopped being cool and started being a hassle a few months after the main part of the war ended. kind of like iraq.

Indeed. These things never simply end, and certainly not neatly.
