My wife correctly noted that it was sign of the times that Charlie Gibson on ABC’s coverage noted, even before Obama had taken the oath of office, that the White House web site had changed over.

I wonder if it switched over at noon - after all, oath of office or not, that’s when Obama and Biden officially became the President and the Veep.

Indeed, that was the point (which I didn’t well explain in the post). It was 12:05pm EST when Gibson made the point–i.e., that even though the oath hadn’t been administered yet, Obama was president and it was just funny that the thing that marked the transition was the web site.

We noted the same thing at my workplace. Charlie mentioned it again immediately following the speech, but it is certainly a sign of the times. It’s true, it’s there, on the web!
