Last month a University of South Alabama/Mobile Register poll of Alabama Republicans indicated that as of right now, ex-Chief Justice Roy Moore would beat Gov. Bob Riley in the Republican primary next year.
The poll further noted that Moore has a 72 percent approval rating among Alabama Republicans.

That’s probably the best counter-editorial I’ve ever read on a politician. You lay everything out very nicely. Well done.

I agree with Mark L. Very reasoned and very solid. I hope he doesn’t win. I only wish that you didn’t have to include all the caveats about being Republican and Christian yourself, but I know well that if you were a (gasp) Democrat and made every one of those exact same arguments, people would be dismissive. And if you weren’t a Christian … well … let’s not even think about that.

I debated including the caveats, but I was hoping that ye olde “only Nixon can go to China” logic might make me more persuasive.
