My post yesterday on the Windows Worm made it into Slate (scroll to the bottom).
It just goes to show that you never know what is going to get noticed. The post was a one I quickly dashed off when I had briefly stopped at my desk to check my e-mail.
It is funny how one can post 1000 word essays and barely get a comment, but sometimes it is the throw-away that gets the attention–like the time I live-blogged the SOTU and a little joke about Denny Hastert got more links that any of my analytical posts that evening.
Still, I appreciate the link from Slate, even if it is to a throw-away post.
Maybe they look for posts with long comments, you know, the one’s where you touch people’s nerves.

I can relate.
I’ve written thousands of words of commentary on science and technology and tens of thousands of words on politics and history.
My top post of all time?
My recipe for beef stroganoff.
Followed by my recipe for a Mexican martini.
Followed by my repipe for a bloody mary.
I should start a recipe-blog…

I really *do* know how to spell “recipe” (not repipe as in my above comment…).
I just rely too much on a spell-checker.
