I am watching Senator Landrieu via TiVo on Fox News Sunday and when confronted by the fact that the budgets during the Bush administration were slightly higher for flood control in New Orleans than the Clinton budgets (despite her claims to the contrary on the floor of the Senate recently) her response was not to backtrack on her attack on Bush, or to also attack Clinton, but rather she goes on to attack the Reagan and Bush 41 administrations for deficits as the reason why Clinton couldn’t increase funding, and further, Bush’s increases weren’t enough because he had the post-Clinton suprluses to work with.

Setting aside the fact that Presidents don’t actually make budgets (that would be Congress’ job, as the Senator well knows), I have to wonder if the Senator could be a tad more partisan.

How can anyone take her rantings seriously at this point? And, not to mention that she did not, as a legislator, fight hard for levee protection, but rather for other projects in Louisiana (as WaPo noted earlier this week). When confronted with these fact she simply got angrier and continued to blame the Bush administration.

There is plenty of legimitate criticism to go around, I will readily confess, but anyone who can only blame one party, or, even worse, a single official has left intellectual honesty well behind.

    1. I agree with you that we cannot ultimately place the blame on any one single person or party or anything, however it is sad that people cannot think for themselves and plan accordingly and take responsibility for their actions. Where has moral integrity gone to?

    2. You should know by now the libs cant take the blame for anything hell its always the republicans fault. But the one that really gets my goat is crazy eyes Nasty Polosi, her and dingy Harry Reid can both drop off the face of the earth and not be missed…

    3. I think Senator Landrieu and all other LA officials are C.Y.A. They like the limelight but when it comes down to truly working for the “people” they failed.

    4. You really should go back and watch the Senate Budget committee hearings in 2024 (the one where assistant secretary of the Army Michael Parker testified) to get a full sense of the budget games played around disaster preparedness and relief.
