Hmm, the three most prominent NYT columnists just happen to be on MTP this week, and Tim makes the comment about how we’re getting them all free today, instead of paying to read them online.
Coincidence? I think not. Indeed, I predict seeing more of this kind of thing–getting groups of NYT columnist on TV rather than seeing them as individuals who also happen to write for a specific paper. The message will be: see what you are missing? Surely you to pay to read these luminaries now!
However, I will state for the record that I moved no closer to paying for NYT’s select than I was before see the NYT Three on TV.
Funniest part was Russert’s concluding line, something to the effect of: “There you have it, three columnists from the New York Times with three very different opinions.”
Of course, I guess that David Brooks was the most muscular conservative they could have there. Anyone else couldn’t have resisted the urge to crush some of those MoDo and Friedman non sequiturs out of the park, but Brooks just nodded along.

I am a daily online Times reader and I have to say the select thing pisses me off pretty bad. I got it daily for a year and then started reading it online, but I hate this. I like most of the columnists however and don’t care if they are on MTP.

I thought Friedman sounded less shrill and made some good points. I think everyone is really just patronizing maureen dowd, because she had absolutely *nothing* of substance to contribute to the conversation.

Dowd is very clever and usually right on target. Her phrase “bullhorn Moment” has been picked up by others to describe Bush’s desperate attempt to look as if he cares and knows what is going on.

I just receive the Sunday paper and Times select is free. Even if you just get the book review Times Select is free. It is a much better deal than the WSJ that costs $49 even when you do subscribe
