The Hall of Fame I understand has announced this year’s finalists:
Troy Aikman and the late Reggie White were among the 15 finalists Wednesday for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
They joined Thurman Thomas and Warren Moon as finalists in their first year of eligibility. Results of the vote will be announced Feb. 4, the day before the Super Bowl in Detroit.
[…]
he two seniors candidates, former Dallas offensive tackle Rayfield Wright and former Oakland coach and current broadcaster John Madden, were chosen by a special committee last August and went straight to the finals. The other 13 were selected from a list of 25 semifinalists.
The other finalists are: linebackers Derrick Thomas and Harry Carson; defensive ends L.C. Greenwood and Claude Humphrey; offensive linemen Russ Grimm, Bob Kuechenberg and Gary Zimmerman; and wide receivers Michael Irvin and Art Monk.
The max is six, the minimum three.
My three locks:
Troy Aikman
Reggie White
Warren Moon
The next three:
Michael Irvin
L.C. Greenwood
Rayfield Wright
Rayfield Wright? What about Art Monk? Also, I’d think Madden would be a lock, as well, although he really has done more as a broadcaster and software salesman than he ever did as a coach.

And I’m not so sure I’d put Warren Moon in there on his first ballot. How much time did he spend in the canadian football league?

I will admit to some pro-1970s Cowboys bias in the case of Wright.
In re: Moon—it is the Pro Football HoF, not the NFL HoF, so I think that it is fair to account for all those yards that Moon threw for in the CFL.
In re: Madden. I think he deserves to go in as a broadcaster, but not as a coach. Since he is still active as a broadcaster, I am assuming that the inclusion is for coaching.
