After a day that allowed for very little news reading, I was checking out the “Most Popular” stories on Yahoo and noted this juxtaposition on the “Most Viewed Photos”:

That’s quite a contrast, shall we say.

This led me to discover that Johansson Tops FHM’s ‘Sexiest Women’ Poll, which led me to realize that I have no idea who Scarlett Johansson is. I am not sure if that fact is simply a function of a lack of pop culture savvy, my age, or both.

I have, however, heard of the remaining ladies on the list–update: except for Kiera Knightley, (for inquiring minds that want to know):

Angelina Jolie is No. 2 on the list, followed by
Jessica Alba,
Jessica Simpson,
Keira Knightley,
Halle Berry,
Jenny McCarthy,
Maria Sharapova,
Carmen Electra and
Teri Hatcher.

Sadly, a post such is this is probably the most my brain can muster at the moment.

3. Having started a pop culture side blog, I am more aware of those names than I otherwise would be. And, as I am sure you will discover in a couple days from your referrer logs, the Web public is more interested in Scarlett Johannson’s hotness than, say, the shuttle program or the intricacies of immigration policy.

5. I’ve actually heard of Scarlett Johansson, but couldn’t pick her out of a line-up. That probably comes from living in the same house with 2 teenage boys. However, Jessica Alba, Keira Knightley and Maria Sharapova totally escape me.

   But then again, I NEVER go to the movie theatre and have recently only rented movies when Movie Gallery called to say I have a free rental waiting because I haven’t been in the story for so long. Which has actually happened to me twice. lol!

6. I only know Jessica Alba because she was in the Fantastic Four (which I haven’t actually seen) and there was also some news flap about her and a Playboy cover–something about her posing in a swimsuit, but not nude, yet being on the cover as if she were nude.

   Sharapova is a tennis player–although I couldn’t pick her out of a lineup.

   Actually, I haven’t heard of Kiera either–I missed that one.
