One would think he would take some modicum of responsibility for the mess he has created. That he has no regrets and no shame is quite sad, really.
Indeed.
Further, James notes what is likely to become a litany amongst many of the faithful: that DeLay was simply ousted by a cabal of liberals engaged in the politics of personal destruction–rather than actually looking at DeLay’s own responsibility in this issue.
At this stage of the game, I concur with James: DeLay will likley be acquitted, but that it will be clear that he was of unclean hands in terms of his ethical behavior. I don’t think that this is a Duke Cunningham kind of situation, but rather a case of a man who got far too caught up in the Us versus Them mentality of partisan competition to the point that he forgot his job was governing, not beating the Democrats.
