The absentee ballot have been counted, and Bilbray will face Busby in the run-off (via the AP): Ex-Congressman in Runoff for Calif. Seat

A count of several thousand last-minute absentee and provisional ballots Thursday widened Bilbray’s second-place lead over millionaire challenger Eric Roach to more than 1,000 votes.

Only 880 votes separated the two Republicans following Tuesday’s special election.

    1. Note that Busby got more votes than the two leading Republicans combined. Part of this could be attributed to an ad sponsored by a group calling itself The Republican National Congressional Committe. Who accused Busby of being a hypocrit for accepting campaign contributions, when she was talking about opposing out and out bribes.

Brian Bilbray is a decent fellow over all and he’s done nothing to earn the attentions of such as the NRCC. I hope he takes the time to denounce them and their actions before they utterly destroy any chance he has of winning the election.
