Via the BBC: Fire breaks out at Turkey airport
A large fire is engulfing the cargo area of Istanbul’s main Ataturk airport, disrupting air traffic.Hundreds of people have fled the area and nearby terminals and there are unconfirmed reports of cargo workers being trapped.

Thick plumes of smoke billowed about 30 meters (100 feet) into the air, television footage showed. Kaya Heyse, a producer for CNN’s sister network CNN Turk, said the smoke could be seen from all over Istanbul.He said the fire was being contained in the cargo section of the airport but it was threatening a hotel near the airport. Firefighters were tackling the blaze as planes doused water from the air.
